Derek Braun is an Associate at Strategic Economics. He is currently working on the economic background report for the Rancho Cucamonga General Plan Update. He is also working on an economic and fiscal analysis as part of the Warner Center Specific Plan Update for the City of Los Angeles. In addition to market study and employment analysis, the update presents a unique opportunity to examine the economic potential for transforming a suburban employment center into a transit-oriented district.
Mr. Braun previously interned for the City of Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency, where his projects included façade rehabilitation, affordable housing development, and contact management with consulting and service firms. He also interned at JWA Urban Consultants, where he analyzed the implications of redevelopment plan expirations for the City of Paramount and assisted with the establishment of the South Gate - Lynwood Enterprise Zone program.
Mr. Braun received his Master of Planning from the University of Southern California, where he concentrated in Local Economic Development and served on the board of the planning student organization. Upon graduation he received the AICP Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Study of Planning and also received honors for his Comprehensive Examination project assessing economic development issues in the Warner Center area of Los Angeles. Mr. Braun holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Case Western Reserve University.
